A Look Back at Daniel Lee’s Most Memorable Bottega Veneta Styles

Fashion designer Daniel Lee revealed today that he would be leaving Bottega Veneta after more than three years as the design house’s creative director.
Lee has been highly praised for his work at Bottega Veneta since 2019, injecting the heritage brand with a fresh dose of modernity and youthfulness with his many sleek and playful accessories that have become some of the brand’s most popular items. His designs inspired a popular Instagram account, @newbottega, which documented the designer’s new and highly coveted designs. Over the last three years, the account has accumulated a following of more than 870,000.
Arguably Lee’s most ubiquitous design for Bottega Veneta is the signature Pouch bag, which was introduced in his first collection with the design house in 2019. The bag became an instant favorite among influencers, fashion industry executives and customers and has been described as one of the newest “It” bags.
Lee followed the Pouch bag — which now comes in a plethora of colors, sizes and styles — with several other memorable styles across handbags and shoes and even with a bright shade of green, which has since been dubbed “Bottega green.”
Here, WWD looks back at some of Lee’s most memorable Bottega Veneta styles during

Questions Swirl Over Bottega Veneta, Daniel Lee Split

MILAN — What happened at Bottega Veneta?
The news on Wednesday evening that the Italian company and Daniel Lee were parting ways took the industry by surprise, given the success and level of attention the creative director brought to the brand in a little more than three years.
Precisely because of this upward trajectory, sources, who mainly spoke on condition of anonymity, were left wondering what could have triggered this abrupt split. Many speculated that Kering’s decision was a “brave” one that had to be taken despite the successful streak, which leads them to believe personal issues were stronger than the bottom line.
One source said a “highly dependable, veteran expert in the operations and supply chain department at the Vicenza headquarters, a key reference point for the company, quit last week, and this is just the latest exit in so many. It must have been the last straw.”
Another source said several highly skilled artisans in Vicenza were “struggling and “unhappy with the atmosphere at the company.”
According to multiple sources, Lee was highly creative and influential with his designs, but clashed with several people within the company and was defined as “uncommunicative.”
“At a moment when the company is healthy and the brand performing so

All the Red Carpet Looks at the ‘House of Gucci’ London Premiere

“House of Gucci” has kicked off its hot streak of movie premieres this month.
The much-anticipated murder drama, directed by Ridley Scott, held its world premiere in London on Tuesday, with its star-studded cast turning heads with their fashion-forward red carpet looks.
Lady Gaga, in typical Gaga fashion, wowed the crowd in a dark violet, chiffon turtleneck cape gown by Gucci from the label’s recent Love Parade show in Los Angeles. The dress featured plisse, nude see-through panel and crystal details. She paired the dress with fishnet stockings by Gucci, gloves with crystal detailing and black heeled platform boots. The singer-actress styled her bleached blonde hair long and straight with bangs, reminiscent of Donatella Versace’s hairstyle in the late ‘90s.
She was styled by Sandra Amador and Tom Eerebout. The former has worked with other stars such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Chloë Grace Moretz.
Jared Leto, fresh off walking the runway at Gucci’s Love Parade, also stunned in a look by the Italian fashion house. The award-winning actor wore a blue velvet shawl lapel jacket with tonal satin trim and matching trousers over a light cream sheer wraparound shirt. He paired the outfit with gray leather boots and carried a silver allover crystal embellished

A Closer Look at Lady Gaga’s ‘House of Gucci’ London Premiere Dress

Lady Gaga is giving a nod to “House of Gucci” with her red carpet look.
The Oscar-winning singer and actress attended the highly anticipated film’s London premiere Tuesday night in a dramatic look from Gucci’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted on Hollywood Boulevard just a week ago. The collection itself, with its lavish gowns and suits, was inspired by Hollywood and costume design.
Lady Gaga’s look is a purple draped maxidress in a silk chiffon with a flowing cape that she whirled around on the red carpet. She paired the look with sheer, crystal-detailed opera gloves and sheer lace, thigh-high socks worn with black platform boots.

She wore the Gucci dress with a rock-‘n’-roll-inspired beauty look, which consisted of blunt bangs and a black and purple smokey eye.
Lady Gaga was joined on the red carpet by the film’s star-studded cast, including Adam Driver, Salma Hayek, Jared Leto and Jeremy Irons.
“House of Gucci” is a dramatized version of the real-life events surrounding the Gucci family, specifically the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci, who was the last of the Gucci family to run the design house. Gucci was killed by a hitman hired by his

Congratulations are in order for Ivy Getty and Tobias Engel who tied the knot over the weekend.
The heiress, the great-granddaughter of billionaire oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, married Engel, a photographer, in a lavish wedding held in San Francisco’s City Hall and officiated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The weekend reportedly involved a star-studded guest list that included Anya Taylor-Joy and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and a 1960s-themed bash at the Palace of Fine Arts.
Getty wore a custom wedding gown designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela Haute Couture, which featured four layers and shards of real broken mirrors, and shoes by Christian Louboutin. Her bridal party, including Taylor-Joy who was her maid of honor, also wore dresses by Galliano.
“A little over a year, 18 dresses, many laughs, teas and hugs later. Thank you @jgalliano and @maisonmargiela for making the two most beautiful wedding gowns I have ever laid eyes on,” Getty wrote on Instagram. “Working with you John has been such a pleasure.
