EXCLUSIVE: Ilene Joy Taps Stylist Elizabeth Sulcer for Second Fine Jewelry Collection

Ilene Joy is teaming with Elizabeth Sulcer for her next collection.
The fine jeweler and celebrity stylist, respectively, are collaborating on a holiday fine jewelry collection, which is the second collection to come from Joy’s namesake brand since it launched in 2019. The collection includes 16 pieces across earrings and rings.
“I have a very specific kind of vibe that I like and Elizabeth is just so ridiculously spot on,” Joy said about the collaboration. “She’s got the edge, the elegance and the bold authoritative nuance of what my brand stands for.”
This thought was echoed by Joy’s daughter and business partner, Rae Scheer, who stated: “We wanted to work with someone who was on the pulse. We wanted to marry this fashion element with fine jewelry and we really just wanted to work with someone who identifies with our style, but was also on the pulse of the new trends.”
To create the collection, Sulcer and Joy spoke at length about their jewelry preferences and sources of inspiration, such as architectural lines and natural elements. Both women discovered their mutual fondness for signet rings — Joy has long wanted to create a collection inspired by her grandfather’s signet ring — and chose to

Virgil Abloh’s Legacy Honored at Fashion Awards in London

LONDON — The night belonged to Virgil Abloh.
The late designer — whose sudden death was announced a mere 24 hours before The Fashion Awards in London were set to take place — was on everyone’s mind Monday night at Royal Albert Hall.
There was an outpouring of love and emotion for the man who shook up the fashion system and opened the door for so many marginalized communities.
Before the event officially began, Idris Elba took to the stage to pay tribute to Abloh.
“I lost a friend, his wife lost a husband, the fashion industry lost a legend and the world lost a special human being,” said Elba who was surrounded by screens bearing the image of Abloh, who died Sunday after a long private battle with cancer.
“He was one of the few people I could have a conversation [with] about multitasking. But he didn’t do it for the fame or the money, he did it to inspire others,” said the actor who then recited Maya Angelou’s poem “When Great Trees Fall.”

Maria Sharapova Wears Couture Dress Made From Water Bottles at 2021 Fashion Awards

Maria Sharapova combined high fashion and sustainability at the Fashion Awards.
The tennis champion attended the annual awards ceremony on Monday night in London wearing a custom dress created in a collaboration between Iris van Herpen and Evian. The sustainable dress, named the “Mimesis,” is designed with fabric made from recycled Evian bottles and organic silk and features the three-dimensional look that van Herpen is known for. Sharapova is a global brand ambassador for Evian.
“Collaborating with Evian on this project has been a great experience, particularly as we have shared sustainability goals and desire to reduce our impact on the planet,” van Herpen said in a statement. “Designing a couture dress with a fabric created from Evian bottles has enabled us to join forces and create a stunning garment that aims to inspire and encourage plastic recycling. I hope this dress will shape people’s perception of upcycling and recycling plastic by reinforcing the different forms the product life cycle can take, highlighting that we all have the power to change our future for the better.”

Billy Porter Makes a Grand Entrance in Richard Quinn at The Fashion Awards

It wouldn’t be Billy Porter without a grand entrance.
The actor-singer stepped onto the red carpet wearing a black-and-white embellished houndstooth dress by Richard Quinn and black patent platform boots. He was accompanied by an entourage of dancers wearing bodysuits featuring black leather and a blue-and-white floral pattern.
After the dancers performed and posed on the red carpet, Porter strutted over with one hand on his hip as he made his way to the middle of the group where he continued to pose.

Porter took that year’s camp theme head-on, arriving at the gala on a litter carried by six men. The actor revealed a Cleopatra-themed custom look by The Blonds: a head-to-toe gold-sequined jumpsuit complete with a matching cape. Upon disembarking from said litter, Porter spread out his cape, revealing it doubled as wings.
