Gucci to Show at Milan Fashion Week in February

MILAN — Gucci is making a comeback to Milan Fashion Week.
The company’s president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri announced on Tuesday morning that Gucci will unveil its new collection with a show in Milan in February. The executive spoke from the stage of the 26th Pambianco Fashion Summit, held at Milan’s Bourse.
In addition, during the year, he said that Gucci will also stage two additional runway shows, in late spring and in September.
Gucci’s last show as part of the Milan Fashion Week official schedule dates back to February 2020, when the brand hosted a runway event to present the fall 2020 women’s collection that creative director Alessandro Michele dedicated to the multitiered ritual of designing, making, staging and viewing a fashion show.
After the COVID-19 outbreak, Gucci skipped the spring 2021 men’s shows and presentations in Milan in June and unveiled the “Epilogue” collection, coinciding with a resort 2021 delivery, with a digital showcase in July 2020.
“We have inherited vocabulary terms that were born in other moments. As in rope jumping, we have to learn to avoid tripping over them. I don’t know if we need these words. Cruise, pre-fall are really antique terms, emptied of their significance,” said Michele

Christine Quinn Teams With ShoeDazzle for First Fashion Collection

Christine Quinn is embarking on her first fashion collaboration.
The real estate agent, who stars in the Netflix reality TV show “Selling Sunset,” is teaming with ShoeDazzle for a collection of footwear styles made for the upcoming holiday season.
“I just love the affordability factor of it,” Quinn said about ShoeDazzle. “It’s not every day that you can find cool shoes that are actually done really well, so for me that’s what I really loved about the collection.”
The collection offers 24 footwear styles across heels and boots. With the holiday season coming up, Quinn wanted to offer options that were festive, but also worked for the colder months.
“We’re working around the fact that it’s November and December, so we’re trying to keep it concurrent with the trends for fall,” she said. “I wanted to do a lot of sparkles and I wanted to incorporate bows and just glitter anywhere I could so it gave that holiday vibe.”

This holiday vibe is seen in many of the collection’s sparkle-embellished pieces, such as a pair of thigh-high boots designed in a silver shimmer finish, crystal-embellished black pumps, high-heeled boots with crystal fringe and colorful pumps with a wrap around silver detail.

Inside Paris Hilton and Carter Reum’s Extravagant Los Angeles Wedding Bash

It wouldn’t be a Paris Hilton wedding without some over-the-top festivities.
After Hilton married Carter Milliken Reum, a venture capitalist and entrepreneur, on Thursday, the socialite changed out of her custom Oscar de la Renta wedding dress into not one, but three more dresses for the wedding reception.
The first was a white off-the-shoulder Ghalia Lav gown which Hilton topped with a sparkling tiara. She then changed into a long, crystal-embellished dress by Pamella Roland that featured a matching cape for the first dance. Concluding her parade of outfit changes was a short bustier cocktail dress also by Oscar de la Renta, with the label’s signature floral embroidery.

During the reception, guests sat down for a dinner where they were reportedly met with a performance by Demi Lovato, who sang Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”
On Friday, the wedding festivities continued with a neon carnival-themed bash at Los Angeles’ iconic Santa Monica Pier, which featured treats such as hot dogs and funnel cakes, a ferris wheel, a DJ set performance by Diplo and carnival games that were Paris Hilton-themed, where winners would receive a toy with an image of the heiress on it.

‘Diva of Shoulder Pads’ and QVC Designer Kathleen Kirkwood Dies at 62

Former QVC personality Kathleen Kirkwood, who was known as the “diva of shoulder pads,” died Nov. 5 at age 62 at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
The cause of death has not been determined for Kirkwood, who became sick suddenly in September, according to her sister Joann Kirkwood, who said a private Zoom service is being planned.
A determined entrepreneur and an early advocate for sustainability practices, Kirkwood dove into fashion after graduating from high school. Born in Laurelton, N.Y., Kirkwood’s mother worked at a nearby fashion boutique, Ronnie’s in Cedarhurst, and her father [Gerard] was a stockbroker. “My mother was always into fashion. There are pictures of them going out. My parents did ‘hustle’ [dance] contests and they went out clubbing. It was always fashion, fashion, fashion,” said Joann Kirkwood, a Fashion Institute of Technology graduate who worked as a children’s wear designer for 31 years until recently.
After moving to Manhattan as a teenager, Kathleen Kirkwood started work as a showroom salesperson at Gil Aimbez Static, an acid jeans manufacturer, and later for Philippe Adec. She attended night school to learn how to speak French fluently, her sister said. In 1983, Kirkwood created Kirkwood International. “Her fighting spirit was evident

WWD has learned that the brand’s ready-to-wear design director Matthieu Blazy is to succeed Daniel Lee as creative director of the brand. Blazy will present his first collection for Bottega Veneta in February 2022.
Upon the sudden exit of Lee last Wednesday after three years, WWD was the first to identify Blazy as a possible internal successor.
“Matthieu Blazy is an extraordinarily talented individual, whom I am proud and excited to entrust with the creative helm of our luxury house,” said Leo Rongone, chief executive officer of the company, in a statement issued at the end of trading on Monday, confirming the appointment. “Bottega Veneta has always been equated with signature craftsmanship and distinctive creativity. Matthieu’s appointment will further enhance the modern relevance of our brand and accelerate our growth, while preserving the values that are at the core of Bottega Veneta.”
Blazy is expected to bring more of the same, building on his predecessor’s new and strong take on the storied label, which has helped fuel Bottega Veneta’s sales and increase its reach around the world, revamping it with coveted accessories, from the Pouch bag to the Lido sandals.

Lady Gaga Goes Red Hot in Versace for ‘House of Gucci’ Milan Premiere

Lady Gaga is continuing her hot streak — literally — of fashion-forward red carpet style for the “House of Gucci” press tour.
The singer-actress led the way at the Milan premiere for the upcoming murder drama in a custom red gown by Versace that featured a corset top with lace-up detailing and a formfitting skirt with a high thigh slit on the left. She wore matching red platform pumps, jewelry by Tiffany & Co. and styled her hair in a half-updo. The star’s makeup was a bold, smokey eye and finished with a nude lip.
She was styled by Sandra Amador and Tom Eerebout. The former has worked with other stars such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Chloë Grace Moretz.
That night, Lady Gaga posed for pictures and waved at fans as it drizzled in Milan. She posted a video on her Instagram Story of people cheering as she blew kisses and embraced the raindrops, captioning it “Rain on Me Milan!” in reference to her 2020 hit song with Ariana Grande.
