Edvin Thompson, Theophilio designer and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund recipient, debuted his new swim collection during Miami Swim Week.
The swim collection is inspired by his homeland Jamaica and its sunrises and sunsets. “The colors used in this collection reminded me of the many moments while living in the hills of Jamaica. The countryside was my world, it was all I knew growing up in Jamaica. The vibrant colors constantly reminded me of how alive I was. The rivers and oceans aided many juvenile activities. I want to hold on to that image with this swim collection,” he said.
Swim sets are $135, headpieces are $90 and minidresses are $225, all which will be available mid-August.

Ariana Grande is launching her first clean fragrance.
The perfume will be naturally derived and cruelty-free, and called God Is a Woman, after Grande’s hit song from her fourth studio album, “Sweetener.” The fragrance will feature notes of ambrette, juicy pear, orris, Turkish rose petals, creamy cedarwood and Madagascar vanilla.
The God Is a Woman scent, which is available exclusively on Ulta.com, is 100 percent vegan, naturally derived and made with clean ingredients. During the first two weeks on the market, a contribution from each purchase will be donated to ocean clean-up initiatives globally.
Grande has experienced immense success since her first foray into the beauty world. In 2015, she launched her first fragrance, called Ari, then created others such as Sweet Like Candy and Moonlight, all of which were sold at Ulta. In 2018, Lush launched a bath bomb inspired by the iridescent purple and pink hues seen in Grande’s music video for “God Is a Woman,” and in 2019, Grande released a fragrance called “Thank U, Next,” named after her hit song and album of the same name. That fragrance is also available at Ulta.

AZ Factory, the fashion start-up initiated by Alber Elbaz, is set to close Paris Fashion Week this fall with a fashion show in homage to the beloved designer, who died on April 24 from COVID-19.
Titled “Love Brings Love,” the show has been scheduled for Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. CET and “will pay tribute to Alber’s creative vision and his extraordinary love for the fashion family,” the brand said in a brief statement.
The next women’s fashion week in the French capital is scheduled for Sept. 27 to Oct. 5.
Based in Paris, AZ Factory is a joint venture with Compagnie Financière Richemont hinged on projects rather than collections, and with storytelling, problem-solving and entertainment embedded in design, distribution and communications.
Laurent Malecaze, chief executive officer of AZ Factory, previously described the memorial in Paris as coming together “to honor Alber with a celebration of his life and his visionary work, aiming to bring the same level of passion and love that he brought to us each day.”
Elbaz was laid to rest at the Holon cemetery in Israel, next to his parents, only a few days after his passing.

Simone Biles is unsure of her return to the Tokyo Olympics.
The 24-year-old withdrew in the gymnastics team all-around event on Tuesday, citing a “medical issue” according to an official USA Gymnastics statement. However, it was not a physical injury that hindered Biles’ performance, but mental health, stating the pressure to be successful and stress of being the greatest gymnast in history was too difficult to combat.
“Physically she is fine,” Biles’ coach told NBC. “But she is done for tonight.”
In the vault stage of the team event, Biles struggled with her landing, which cost Team USA points as they faced difficult competition in the Russian Olympic Committee. Afterward, she left the floor with her trainer and withdrew from the event as a whole.

Issa Rae is giving fans a closer look at her intimate wedding ceremony.
The actress and producer shared photos on her Instagram on Monday from her wedding ceremony to banking professional Louis Diame in the South of France on Sunday, giving a closer look at her custom Vera Wang wedding dress.
Rae wore a custom light ivory sweetheart neckline ballroom-style wedding dress for the ceremony. The dress was detailed with hand-placed Chantilly lace and hand-sewn crystal beading. She paired the dress with a matching ivory, chapel-length veil that was also designed with Chantilly lace.
The actress shared a slideshow of images from the wedding on Instagram, including photos with her husband and her bridesmaids. She posted the photos with a cheeky caption, writing: “A) Impromptu photoshoot in a custom @verawang dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband.”

The Tokyo Summer Olympics may be about sports, but the opening ceremony produced several major fashion moments that made an impact on viewers.
The Summer Games officially started on Friday with more than 11,000 athletes from 206 countries coming together at the opening ceremony in Tokyo. The ceremony was unlike any in Olympics history, as the show was scaled back and virtually no spectators were permitted due to the pandemic.
Despite the changes, the opening ceremony produced several impressive moments, especially among the sartorial choices of the athletes and performers. Japanese singer Misia, for one, had a viral moment when she sang Japan’s national anthem dressed in a rainbow, cotton candy-like couture dress from designer Tomo Koizumi.
Many team uniforms also made an impact on viewers, both ones that resonated for their high-fashion quality and homage to various cultures and others that became fodder for memes.

Kim Kardashian West revealed on July 7 that after roughly four years of running her KKW Beauty brand, she would be temporarily shutting down in order to rebrand with “new formulas that are more modern, innovative and packaged in an elevated and sustainable new look.”
While it was speculated that the rebrand was due to Kardashian West’s divorce from Kanye West, a source close to the brand and the founder confirmed the rebrand has “nothing to do with dropping the ‘W’ from KKW” and that West has even played a role in the rebrand.
