Adam Sandler Is the Top Trending Celebrity Style Star of 2021

The return to the in-person red carpet and early Aughts nostalgia proved to be influential in determining the top trending celebrity style stars this year.
Google’s Year in Search data showed the 10 celebrities with the top trending style of 2021. Perhaps surprisingly, the top ranking went to actor Adam Sandler, who has become a style star in his own right this year thanks to Gen Z’s inclination toward fashion trends of the early 2000s.
Sandler’s style has resonated with the masses for its casual nature. The actor has become known for wearing baggy clothes in styles like polo shirts, oversize T-shirts, basketball shorts, loose-fitting jeans and sneakers.

Also in the vein of nostalgia, Google’s second top trending celebrity style star of 2021 is Britney Spears, whose been top of mind in the cultural lexicon this year due to her conservatorship battle against her father, Jamie Spears, which recently came to an end in her favor. Spears’ style was heavily influential on the year’s most popular Halloween costumes, which took inspiration from many of her iconic music videos and awards show looks from the early Aughts.
Aside from nostalgia, the year’s return to the in-real-life red carpet also proved to be influential on

Pete Davidson is back on Instagram.
The “Saturday Night Live” comedian appears to have taken over the Calvin Klein Instagram as of Monday, with the brand’s account changing its main photo to one of Davidson wearing a Calvin Klein baseball cap and its bio to “Pete here.”

Machine Gun Kelly later joined Davidson for an Instagram Live on Calvin Klein’s account later in the evening, where they jokingly put on a risqué photoshoot of themselves in their Calvin Klein briefs while sitting on a white couch. This included Machine Gun Kelly pouring a bowl of popcorn over Davidson as he kneeled on the couch.
It is unclear if Davidson’s Instagram takeover is part of an upcoming campaign or ambassadorship with Calvin Klein. Representatives from the brand declined to share further details about Davidson’s involvement with the brand at press time.

Zendaya Gives a Nod to ‘Spider-Man’ at London Premiere

Zendaya continued her habit of giving a nod to her roles and films through her fashion at the London premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
The actress attended the photo call for the film’s premiere Sunday night wearing a men’s wear-inspired look from Alexander McQueen’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. The look consisted of an oversize gray blazer jacket embellished with a crystal design that resembled a spider web.
She completed the look with thigh-high black boots with the same crystal embellishments and Jacob & Co. earrings that featured a spider web design.

Zendaya’s Alexander McQueen look is the second the actress has worn recently that gives a nod to the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film, which hits theaters on Dec. 17. The first look was seen at the Ballon d’Or Ceremony in Paris on Nov. 29, where Zendaya wore a vintage Roberto Cavalli black crepe de chine dress with an open back that featured a striking golden spine detailing made with micro golden chains.
Fans were quick to point out that the Cavalli look is similar to “Spider-Man” villain Doctor Octopus (or Doc Ock) and his metal arms that come out of his back.

Billie Eilish Named PETA’s Person of the Year for 2021

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has named Billie Eilish as their Person of the Year for 2021.
Eilish, who has been a vegan since she was 12, has been a longtime vocal advocate for animal protection, pushing for designers and brands to stop utilizing leather and furs in their collections. This year, Eilish launched a vegan Air Jordan shoe with Nike, revealing on her Instagram that the sneakers are “100 percent vegan leather with over 20 percent recycled material.”
Additionally, the award-winning singer launched her first fragrance in October, which contained no animal-derived ingredients and was not tested on animals.
At her Met Gala debut in September, at which she also served as a co-chair, Eilish veered off her signature red carpet style and opted to wear a custom old Hollywood glam-inspired peach ballgown by Oscar de la Renta, which was vegan and silk-free. She said she only agreed to work with the fashion house if the brand agreed it would ban fur, which it did in August.
Eilish is the youngest recipient of the annual award, which has previously been given to the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Pope Francis, Joaquin Phoenix and Anjelica Huston, among others.
