EXCLUSIVE: Halston Releases First Fine Jewelry Collection With Aurate

Halston is embarking on a category expansion with a new collaboration.
The heritage fashion brand has teamed with Aurate on a fine jewelry collection that fuses both brands’ ethos for the holidays. The 12-piece collection includes earrings, necklaces and rings co-designed by both brands that are made to reflect Halston’s well-known glitz and glamour of the Studio 54 days.
“It’s about going out, showing the glitzy version of yourself and this party mode, which is very much Halston and something we’ve also always had,” said Aurate cofounder Sophie Kahn. “Then there’s the other part of the everyday fine jewelry that’s a huge part of Aurate. You sleep in it and you go to the gym in it. Halston always had bold dresses, but they were still comfortable, so we wanted to do the same.”
The brands codesigned the collection, taking a thorough look at Halston’s archives and looking back at the designer’s many muses, such as Tiffany & Co. jewelry designer Elsa Peretti — who was one of the most influential designers in the jewelry category — actress Liza Minelli and models Bianca Jagger and Pat Cleveland.

Chanel Responds to TikTok Controversy Over Advent Calendar

PARIS — Chanel has responded to online controversy about its advent calendar after being mocked by influencers over the contents of the limited-edition box, resulting in a flood of negative comments on social media in the run-up to its annual Métiers d’Art runway show, due to take place on Tuesday.
Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion and president of Chanel SAS, said the French luxury house produced the calendar as part of this year’s celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Chanel No.5 perfume, and it did not expect the negative feedback.
“This controversy is a bit of a shame because it was not what Chanel intended. Chanel thought it would please some of its customers by offering this type of product. Evidently, we see that you have to be careful and therefore, in future, we will certainly be much more cautious,” Pavlovsky told WWD on Monday.
Asked whether this was the first time that Chanel produced an advent calendar, the executive said: “No, I don’t think so, but it wasn’t necessarily for sale.” He added that the 2021 calendar was produced in a very limited run, which was totally sold out.
A spokesman confirmed it was the first time Chanel had offered a calendar for

Jennifer Lawrence Dazzles in Dior at ‘Don’t Look Up’ World Premiere

Jennifer Lawrence turned heads in more ways than one at the world premiere of her latest movie “Don’t Look Up.”
The award-winning actress walked the red carpet on Sunday in a light gold embroidered silk dress with pleated cape sleeves by Dior from the label’s spring 2022 collection and wore jewelry by Tiffany & Co. She had her hair in an updo and kept her makeup look simple.
She was styled by Kate Young, who has worked with the likes of Dakota Johnson, Sienna Miller and Sophie Turner.
While Raf Simons was creative director for the French fashion house, Lawrence was tapped as an ambassador for the brand and has frequently appeared in its campaigns. The actress still wears designs from the label often, even wearing a custom Dior wedding gown on her wedding day.
Lawrence also debuted her baby bump at the premiere, held in New York City, since multiple outlets reported her pregnancy three months ago. The baby will be the actress’ first with husband Cooke Maroney, whom she married in 2019.

Zendaya Gives a Nod to ‘Spider-Man’ at London Premiere

Zendaya continued her habit of giving a nod to her roles and films through her fashion at the London premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
The actress attended the photo call for the film’s premiere Sunday night wearing a men’s wear-inspired look from Alexander McQueen’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. The look consisted of an oversize gray blazer jacket embellished with a crystal design that resembled a spider web.
She completed the look with thigh-high black boots with the same crystal embellishments and Jacob & Co. earrings that featured a spider web design.

Zendaya’s Alexander McQueen look is the second the actress has worn recently that gives a nod to the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film, which hits theaters on Dec. 17. The first look was seen at the Ballon d’Or Ceremony in Paris on Nov. 29, where Zendaya wore a vintage Roberto Cavalli black crepe de chine dress with an open back that featured a striking golden spine detailing made with micro golden chains.
Fans were quick to point out that the Cavalli look is similar to “Spider-Man” villain Doctor Octopus (or Doc Ock) and his metal arms that come out of his back.

Design Theory: How George Trochopoulos’ Stripe Motif Became a Go-to Celebrity Style

Despite minimal prior design experience and just a few years of fashion school under his belt, George Trochopoulos has become a go-to designer for some of today’s biggest stars.
The 20-year-old London-based designer didn’t initially intend on a career as a fashion designer, having first thought about law or software engineering. It was when he was looking for a safe space and a community that he ended up pursuing fashion design.
“I was always very creative and very playful, whether that stems from my queerness or that’s something else, I’m not sure,” he explained. “[Fashion designer] was never seen by me or anyone in my life as a job position, but basically I started doing that and playing around. It was the only way in which I saw myself succeeding in a space that I could be myself. It was the only thing that felt right and a step toward the right place. It was never really about the clothes themselves or my fascination with dresses, but it was more about the fact that at the time I really needed a community and the support, which was only given by fashion.”

As Fashion and TV Get Closer, Coco de Mer Partners With ‘Killing Eve’

LONDON — Are TV series stars the new influencers?
As the power of the picture-perfect Instagram influencer is being questioned, fictional characters from hit TV and Netflix series — ranging from “Bridgerton” to “Gossip Girl” and “Squid Game” — are reemerging as the ultimate trend setters.
According to recent data by Lyst, the ’80s styling choices of the “Sex Education” cast or creative personalities like poet Kai-Isaiah-Jamal are starting to drive trends and move product much quicker than the Instagram set.
“Fashion lovers don’t need to look at some Instagram influencers anymore, they prefer to layer different styles, and mix influences from digital-born trends, Netflix, musicians or video games,” said Brenda Otero, Lyst’s cultural insights manager.
So, fashion brands are looking to grasp the momentum — and capitalize on the opportunity.
Coco de Mer is the latest to strike a deal with a blockbuster TV show. The British lingerie brand is readying the launch of a capsule with BBC America’s “Killing Eve,” set to launch on Dec. 6 on the label’s website and on Net-a-porter.
It’s following on the footsteps of the likes of Malone Souliers, which recently announced a “Bridgerton” shoe collaboration; Balmain which released a capsule for Netflix’s “The Harder They Fall” movie, and Halston’s archival
