A Breakdown of the Fashion in ‘And Just Like That’

“Sex and the City” reboot “And Just Like That” debuted on HBO Max on Thursday, bringing back the high-fashion factor that the series was known for.
HBO Max dropped the first two episodes of the reboot today, with series regulars Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York — played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, respectively — both referencing their much revered styles, while also playing with more modern pieces. The reboot follows the three women, plus a mix of new and returning characters, as they navigate friendship, family and their love lives in their 50s.
“What we brought in new was just updating it. Making it more modern. Working with new designers, new young designers, internationally,” said Danny Santiago, one of the reboot’s costume designers, in an interview with WWD. “Because of Instagram, we were able to find all these new people that we could bring in. But again, sticking to what the girls had already as far as their types of looks.”
Unequivocally the show’s most watched style icon, Parker’s Bradshaw returned to her over-the-top, lavish wardrobe for the reboot, wearing an array of headpieces, sky-high heels and designer handbags. In the first episode’s opening scene, Bradshaw joins

How Pantone’s Colors of the Year Have Changed Over the Last 22 Years

Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has revealed its predictions for the color of the year based on a myriad of factors.
Pantone’s colors of the year — which have largely been bright, eye-catching hues that range across the entire color spectrum — are chosen through in-depth trend forecasting by the institute. Pantone looks at everything from the year’s mood to fashion, entertainment, art, music, travel and social media, among others, to make its decision.
“Each year, our Pantone Color of the Year is a color we see crossing all areas of design,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “It’s a color that serves as an expression of a mood or an attitude on the part of the consumers, a color that will resonate around the world, a color that reflects what people are looking for and what they feel they need that color to answer.”
In certain years, Pantone sees socioeconomic or political issues having a bigger influence on its color of the year prediction. For instance, in 2006 Pantone chose Sand Dollar — a neutral beige shade — as a reflection of the nation’s concern about the economy.
While each year typically has one color of the year,

A Look at the Biggest Colors Trends of 2022 — So Far

The biggest color trends of 2022 are rooted in optimism, warmth, growth and excitement as we head into the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Color authorities and trend forecasters like Pantone, WSGN and Etsy have started releasing their color predictions for next year, many of which are bright hues that give a jolt of energy during the bleakness of the pandemic.
Pantone today revealed that Very Peri, a blue-purple hue, is its color of 2022. The shade is described as a “warm and friendly blue hue with a carefree confidence and joyful attitude.” Very Peri is just one shade of blue Pantone predicts will be big next year. It’s also anticipating Spun Sugar (a pastel blue), Glacier Lake (a powdery blue), Skydiver (a bright blue) and Harbor Blue (a dark blue-green) will resonate with many next year.
Like previous years, many of the colors of 2022 are again rooted in nature. Pantone’s Daffodil, for one, a bright yellow color, is said to reflect the “spontaneity of a spring garden.” Pantone’s Perfectly Pale, a beige hue, also references a warm beach. Etsy’s color of 2022, Emerald Green, reflects nature by representing harmony, growth and refinement.

How Celebrities Are Already Wearing Pantone’s Color of 2022

Pantone’s color of 2022 was just announced today, but several celebrities and prominent figures have already looked to the hue for their public appearances this year.
Very Peri, a dark blue-purple hue, is Pantone’s color of 2022. The color is described as a “dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone,” which blends “the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red,” according to Pantone.
Many have already looked to the color for their outfits this year as in-person red carpets and in-real-life events have returned amid the pandemic. The hue was first seen on Vice President Kamala Harris, who wore a custom Christopher John Rogers purple coat and dress to the presidential inauguration in January. Similar to the definition of Very Peri, Harris’ color choice was to bring together red and blue, symbolizing the country’s major political parties coming together during a divisive time.

The blue-purple color was also seen in many iterations on the red carpet throughout the year. Zendaya looked to the color for the 2021 BET Awards where she wore a vintage Versace dress similar to the one

Pantone Reveals 2022 Color of the Year

The colloquial “What’s new?” has weathered away as a conversation opener as the pandemic has stretched into its second year, but Pantone is providing a solid answer to that question with its Color of the Year.
Instead of culling a winner from its leading seasonal colors — or two, as has been the case in years past — the color specialists have gone off the grid to create the 2022 shade. Their choice of Very Peri — Pantone 17-3938 — was unveiled Wednesday night at an immersive event at Artechouse.
Knowing many people still feel mired in sameness while searching for ways to live and work differently, as well as the will and determination to deal with current challenges, Pantone Color Institute specialists said they also took into account the promise of eye opening perspectives and possibilities, our increased reliance on digital technology and “this whole thing with the metaverse” in developing the new hue. That’s an awful lot to ask of any color, but in the name of creativity, newness and the future, they created one.
During a joint interview with Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman, vice president Laurie Pressman said, “This is a really different time. How do we

Kate Middleton Wears Catherine Walker Dress to Host Televised Holiday Carol Service

Kate Middleton looked to one of her go-to designers for the royal family’s holiday carol service.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a festive, bright red coatdress from Catherine Walker to host the “Together at Christmas” holiday carol service, which marks Middleton’s first televised holiday special. The special was filmed on Wednesday at Westminster Abbey and will be televised in the U.K. on Christmas Eve. Middleton paired the look with matching Gianvito Rossi pumps and a clutch.
The televised holiday carol special is meant to celebrate the “incredible work of individuals and organizations across the nation who go above and beyond to support their families,” according to a statement released by the duchess and her husband, Prince William, late last month.
The special will look back at the last 18 months of the pandemic and highlight the people and organizations that have made a difference. The special is supported by the Royal Foundation, which is the couple’s charitable organization.

Dua Lipa, Puma Team on First Collection

Dua Lipa and Puma are taking their partnership a step forward with their first collaboration.
After being tapped last fall as a brand ambassador, the Grammy-winning musician and Puma are releasing a capsule collection called “Flutur,” which is the Albanian word for butterfly. The ’90s-inspired collection will include four pieces across apparel and footwear styles and features a new logo blending Puma’s logo with a butterfly.
“For me, butterflies are more than just beautiful creatures,” Lipa said in a statement. “They represent so much, like transformation, hope and metamorphosis. Over the past year, the butterfly has become especially symbolic and meaningful to me.”
The collection includes black-and-white baby Ts, a black hoodie and the Mayze sneaker, which is designed in a triple black leather and includes a stacked midsole and zigzag stitching on the formstrip.
